Relaxation in the flow of a medium with population inversion in the case of supersonic mixing of the components
Abstract
In the present analysis of a mixing gasdynamic laser attention is focused on some features of the integral thermal and gasdynamic characteristics of a N2-CO2 flow after mixing. The energy losses associated with relaxation processes in the flow are assessed on the basis of a solution of the system of gasdynamic and vibrational-relaxation equations for a molecular N2-CO2 mixture. The optimum conditions for such a system are identified. The feasibility of obtaining modes with small relaxation losses at a specific output power of up to 200 J/g is demonstrated.
