Special and General Relativistic Analyses of the Redshifts of Cosmological Objects in Nonradial Motion
Abstract
Within the scope of the special theory of relativity formulas are derived for the redshift and the apparent angular velocity of an object in nonradial motion. The first formula is identical to the generalrelativistic formula for the redshift observed in the Friedman universe. The generalrelativistic formulas for the angular velocity, derived by other authors, differ slightly. However, the special and general theories yield numerically similar results for expanding quasars.
