Symposium on Advanced Problems and Methods in Fluid Mechanics, 13th, Olsztyn, Poland, September 5-10, 1977, Proceedings
Abstract
Analytical, numerical, and experimental methods of investigating a variety of fluid phenomena are developed in the papers of this volume. Topics studied include an analysis of breakdown of thin liquid films, a variational principle and finite element method for compressible flow with free boundary, the phase state method for blast waves, settling velocity of Newtonian suspension, hydrodynamic stability of cylindrical Couette flow, bifurcation of stationary solutions for the quasi-geostrophic equation with nonlinear boundary conditions, supersonic flow around flattened bodies and sharp-tip wings, and theoretical and experimental study of symmetric and asymmetric vortices from inclined bodies of revolution.
