PKS 1402+44: a red object with a redshift of 3.20.
Abstract
Scanner observations of the 18.5-mag red object identified with the radio source PKS 1402+044 show it to have an emission redshift of 3.20. Although the object appears nonstellar on the Palomar Sky Survey, deep plates taken with a 1.2-m Schmidt telescope show it to be quite stellar in appearance, with several faint galaxies nearby.
