Waveform synthesis for radar applications
Abstract
Waveform synthesis for tracking radar systems is discussed; techniques involving Barker codes with antilobe filters or 'pseudo-quadriphase' codes are given particular attention. Ambiguity functions for signals with single-phase discrete coding are reviewed, and waveform synthesis techniques for imperfectly and perfectly adapted filtering systems are considered. A computer program for the evaluation of the ambiguity function of a discrete code is also presented. The 'pseudo-quadriphase' code is found to provide a sidelobe zone sufficiently low about the central peak that additional filtering is not needed.
