A penetration model for heat transfer from the rear of a cylinder in cross-flow
Abstract
A sublayer renewal model is proposed for heat transfer from rear of a cylinder in cross flow. Assuming the number of zero crossings per second of heat transfer rate fluctuations to be equal to the reciprocal of the eddy contact time the model predicts that Nu is proportional to the square root of the Reynolds number Re for Re greater than 3,000. No direct data are available as input to the model to test its predictive capacity.
