Free convection effects on Stokes' problem for a vertical plate in rarefied gas-medium
Abstract
The paper presents an exact analysis of the Stokes problem for the flow past an impulsively started infinite vertical plate in a rarefied gas, for first-order velocity-slip and temperature-jump boundary conditions. The external heating or cooling of the plate by free convection are considered. It is found that heat transfer rate increases with time, while the rate decreases with increasing h2, the temperature-jump coefficient.
