Algorithm for inviscid flow using the viscous transonic equation
Abstract
An algorithm employing Sichel's (1968) viscous transonic equation (VTE) is developed which introduces artificial viscosity everywhere and formally eliminates the need for mixed differencing. The small-disturbance equation used has the form of the VTE, although artificially large values of viscosity are required for numerical stability. Computed results are only first-order accurate for the inviscid-flow solution. However, the method is not so efficient as current methods because of resulting large matrices.
