Numerical solutions of the compressible hodograph equation
Abstract
The compressible hodograph equation for free jet flow was solved numerically. The contraction coefficient for incompressible flow with negligible approaching flow velocity was computed, and the agreement with the exact solution is within a fraction of 1%. The contraction coefficient for compressible flow discharging from an orifice for ratios of the approach velocity to the freestream velocity of 0 and 0.4 are presented.
