The Herbig-Haro objects in the Gum Nebula.
Abstract
A detailed set of spectrophotometric observations has been obtained of the two newly discovered Herbig-Haro objects associated with a dark cloud embedded in the Gum Nebula. The objects appear to be physically connected and are associated with a dust-embedded emission-line star. They are most likely to be circumstellar radiating shock waves driven by some multiple eruptive phenomena occuring at the central star, perhaps associated with an FU Orionis-type event. Their age is only 200 to 300 years; from the shock models, the density of the dark cloud is between 45 and 95 per cu cm.
