Computation of velocity in the wave train of a point source
Abstract
The velocity potential and the components of velocity in the wave train of a point source are derived from Havelock's integral. Analysis and documentation are given for the computation of velocity by trapezoidal integration, by asymptotic approximation, and by integration by parts. Accuracy and efficiency are least dependent upon the depth of the source in the integration by parts. The three methods of computation are available for application in a set of subroutines.
