Solid reactants for flourine gas generator
Abstract
Pyrolysis of CoF3 results in the conversion of CoF3 to CoF2, releasing fluorine gas in the process. The kinetics of the pyrolysis is a function of temperature. The maximum fluorine yield was found to be about 67% of the theoretical value. Loss of fluorine is attributable to the reaction of fluorine with the surface of the reaction vessel at elevated temperature.
