Effect of the rain rate profile along a path on rain induced attenuation
Abstract
Results obtained over more than two years from measurements of attenuation (17.8 GHz vertical and horizontal polarization, 11 GHz vertical polarization) and of rainfall intensity carried out simultaneously on the same 9.5 km path in the Fucino area plain are presented. Attention is focused on the effect of the rain rate profile along a path on rain-induced attenuation when data for different polarizations and at different frequencies are compared. Consideration is also given to the rain parameters which may affect the relationship between specific attenuation and rainfall intensity.
