Design of the satellite transponder for the Experimental Communication Satellite /ECS/
Abstract
A block diagram of the ECS transponder is presented. The communication subsystem consists of the following main units: K-band receiver, C-band receiver, intermediate amplifier, K-band transmitter, C-band transmitter, and dc-dc converter. The subsystem has successfully passed the specified environmental tests. Design goals for reliability at a duty cycle of 100% are 0.8 for the C/C mode, 0.76 for the K/C mode, 0.53 for the C/K mode, and 0.5 for the K/K mode.
