Management of heat energy generated on board spacecraft
Abstract
Main interfaces between spacecraft temperature control systems and the heat dissipation of onboard equipment are highlighted. Various concepts are discussed and their advantages and disadvantages are assessed from the thermal point of view. Heat rejection requirements of heat sources are presented together with guidelines for the thermal layout of high dissipating electronics. Some graphs are added which support the preliminary layout of heat generating components. The definition and the interrelationship of the various temperature limits used on system, subsystem, and unit level are also presented.
