Recent advances in radar technology
Abstract
With particular reference to the Cobra Dane radar system, attention is given to fine steering, phase shifting, the wideband pulse compression system, and the digital signal processing unit. Automated features including detection, track initiation, and mission decisions are reviewed. Low-side-lobe antennas are discussed in terms of the design of slot depth, width, angle, and waveguide separation. Consideration is given to millimeter wave research for short-range applications, imaging, and identification purposes. Radar systems located in isolated areas are discussed along with adaptive antenna systems for radar and communications.
