The effects of substrate composition on thick film circuit reliability
Abstract
The initial stage sintering kinetics for lead borosilicate glass spheres of two compositions were studied in order to determine the effects of glass composition on the surface tension to viscosity ratio. The glass with the higher PbO content had a surface tension to viscosity ratio higher by a factor of 100 and an activation energy higher by a factor of two. Techniques have been developed for fabricating thick film resistors without changes in glass composition due to resistor-substrate interactions in processing.
