Delay-lock-loop mean time to lose lock
Abstract
A solution to the mean time to lose lock for a first order psuedo-noise code tracking loop is derived for both the full-time delay-lock loop and the time-shared delay lock loop, with both utilizing an early late gate size of 1/2 chip, and assuming ideal bandpass filters. The result for the mean time to lose lock for both loops is of exactly the same form and can be expressed in terms of one parameter, namely the timing error variance. A curve is given which, after a simple calculation, allows the determination of the mean time to lose lock for both first and second order delay-lock-loops.
