Calculation of viscous radiant gas flows
Abstract
The paper deals with flows and heat transfer in shock layers that form on the surface of blunted bodies entering planetary atmospheres. Hypersonic flows past spherically blunted cones are analyzed. A solution is obtained by a modification of the Lax-Wendroff method, using an implicit finite difference scheme of second-order accuracy with respect to the space variables.
