Portable noise monitoring system for Concorde SST
Abstract
Portable weatherproof noise monitors designed to assess the noise generated by the Concorde in the vicinity of Dulles International Airport are described. The monitors include a random incidence microphone and graphic level and reel tape recorders. A threshold circuit which activates the reel tape recorder is employed to eliminate wasted hours of low-level ambient noise monitoring. The noise analyzer has a dynamic range of 100 decibels to ensure that data will not be lost during wide variations in noise level.
