Methods for the electronic simulation of flight sounds
Abstract
The most common methods for the electronic synthesis of vehicle sounds are briefly described and their respective advantages are discussed. The realism of sound simulation is determined essentially by the amount of hardware used and the computer capacity available. In aircraft simulators, sound simulation can be particularly costly. However, the flight simulator described herein shows that an inexpensive and adequate aircraft sound simulator can be designed using traditional analog techniques. The synthesis and mixing of the component sounds for take-off, distance flight and landing are discussed.
