A study of the dynamic behavior of the telecommunications antenna of the ECS satellite
Abstract
The dynamic behavior of the spotbeam antenna under development for the European Communications Satellite (ECS) is analyzed. The analysis relies on the Nastran finite elements computer program employed to model the antenna structure of the Orbital Test Satellite. Vibration modes of the reflector, the lattice work, and the support structure of the antenna are considered. The method of Guyan, which allows for a reduction of degrees of freedom in the model from 1710 to 15, is used to decrease computing time needed for the dynamic analysis.
