Influence of damping on the shift in the natural vibration frequencies of elastic structures containing liquid
Abstract
In the present paper, a dynamic two-mass model is applied to the analysis of the vibrations of elastic tanks containing liquid. Particular attention is given to the influence of damping on the natural vibration frequencies. It is shown that critical damping (at which in-phase and out-of-phase vibrations coincide) decreases as the system approaches resonance.
