The Spacelab instrument pointing subsystem /IPS/ and its utilization
Abstract
The design concept of the Spacelab instrument pointing subsystem (IPS) to meet the high pointing requirements of the various Spacelab payloads is described. A three-axis gimbal system is mounted between one end of a payload and the pallet. This technique offers a very compact system able to accommodate the diversity of payload physical dimensions.
