Mosaic sensor response to moving target images
Abstract
A mosaic sensor simulation program has been developed for the prediction of the multiframe performance of electro-optical sensors utilizing mosaic detectors. The program is based on the determination of the response of mosaic detectors to moving point-target images. Values are given for the signal and noise distributions for both conventional and mosaic detectors. An indirect approach for the analysis of electro-optical sensor performance is discussed. The analysis predicts the effects of mosaic fill factor, image size, position, and motion. It establishes a near-optimum threshold as a function of the signal-to-noise ratio and predicts output performance. Particular attention is given to the single-look probability of detection determination.
