The Beverage wave antenna: Currents, charges and admittances. Volume 1: Theoretical analysis experimental equipment and system calibration
Abstract
This report presents the results of an experimental and theoretical investigation of the circuit properties of horizontal-wire antennas placed over an imperfectly conducting half-space. Particular emphasis is given to the Beverage wave antenna, a special type of horizontal-wire antenna placed in close proximity to the earth. Earlier work has generally assumed a free-space wave number on the wire, thus neglecting the effect of the half-space. The present study has carefully investigated experimentally the effect of the half-space on the properties of the antenna (current, charge and input admittance) and has included this effect in all theories discussed.
