Control of laser emission
Abstract
The paper examines the control of laser emission in conditions of the coherent interactions of multi-level molecules with a field, and obtains equations describing the kinetics of coherent relaxation. Two types of control are considered: control involving excitation of the active medium inside the laser, and control by means of the action of pulses on the multi-level outer medium as the basic laser pulse passes through it. Attention is given to emission in a resonator and in free space, and to the propagation and interaction of short wave pulses in a resonant medium.
