Ricochet during immersion into water of a disk with nearly vertical surface
Abstract
The dynamics of ricocheting of a disk entering water with its surface nearly vertical was studied experimentally. A calculation scheme for determining the disk trajectory is given. The boundary of the ricochet region was found as a function of the mass of the disk and the Froude number. The numerical results are compared with results of experiments carried out with three models of different mass and moment of inertia, and the limits of applicability of the numerical model were determined.
