Entry of a disk into water at an angle of attack
Abstract
In the present paper, the problem of the entry of a disk into an ideal incompressible imponderable fluid is analyzed under the assumption that the velocity vector is inclined toward the horizon and that the normal to the disk's plane deviates over a certain angle from the velocity vector (angle of attack). Using the theory of ideal incompressible fluids, the hydraulic force generated by the entry of the disk is determined as a function of time, of the angle of penetration, and the angle of attack.
