The balance of the turbulence energy and its components in the turbulent boundary layer region close to separation
Abstract
The mathematical relations reported by Szablewski (1973) are used to derive for the fully turbulent layer close to the wall in a region with nearly zero wall stress a 1/3 power law concerning the turbulent energy and its components. The derived relations agree with experimental data obtained by Schubauer and Klebanoff (1951). It is found that diffusion constitutes a significant element in the energy balance of the fully turbulent layer close to the wall for conditions which approximate the separation conditions.
