Measurements of flow boundary layers on conditions of turbomachines
Abstract
A test facility is presented for measuring flow boundary layers where instationary afflux conditions such as they exist in turbomachines could be realized by means of a rotating spoke cylinder interposed ahead the test section. The test results show that fluctuating basic flow provokes strong variations of the boundary layer evolution in comparison to stationary conditions. A comparison yields that existing calculation data resulting from tests with an increased stochastic turbulence of the exterior flow are poorly applicable to this flow configuration.
