An Adcock system with active antennas for mobile applications
Abstract
For certain tasks of radio reconnaissance in the RF region, an Adcock system which can be conveniently transported is needed. An ideal mobile Adcock system should consist of small field probes which receive only the primary field and which are completely independent of the environment and the soil characteristics. This ideal can be closely approached by making use of active antennas with special characteristics. A description is presented of an active antenna which was especially developed for this application, taking into account also a compound 8-Adcock. The Adcock with a height of 2 m for the active antennas has the same sensitivity as the passive antennas with a height of 10 m.
