Study of elastic scattering of protons from tritium
Abstract
The phase analysis carried out in the present paper is based on empirical curves of the differential cross-section and polarization of protons elastically scattered from tritium at energies of 6.8 and 5.8 MeV, respectively. Analysis of the adjusted phases shows that both S-phases are negative, which is an indication of repulsion at small distances. The difference between the 3P(0), 3P(1), and 3P(2) phases is found to be small and, consequently, the role of spin-orbital interaction should be a minor one, while strong polarization at energies of 6.8 MeV is not to be expected.
