Calculation of distribution function in surface disperse systems
Abstract
Size distribution functions of particles were calculated for dispersed metallic films. It is shown that the analytical type of the distribution function and the asymptotics of changes in the critical (mean) sizes depend on particle shape. In case of cylindrical disk-shaped islands growing within the substrate plane the obtained distribution functions for the coalescence mechanisms, which are limited by the surface diffusion coefficient, rate of atom addition to the islands and diffusion coefficient along dislocations, differ from the distributions in island films consisting of dome-shaped particles. Allowance for a dislocation structure of the substrate affects not only asymptotics of changes in the mean sizes of islands but also the type of distribution function.
