Unified treatment of asymptotic cases in laminar thermal convection
Abstract
By using the integral of the stream function as variable transverse to the boundary layer, all the asymptotic cases of thermal convection for similar flows are unified. These range from flows of fluids with Prandtl number tending to zero to fluids with Prandtl number tending to infinity. In the latter case, a distinction is made between flows with and without separation. All cases are treated in a unified manner by considering constant wall temperature and an arbitrarily varying wall temperature.
