Effectiveness of applying film cooling to nozzle guide vane trailing edges
Abstract
The experimental study described deals with the determination of the gasdynamic and thermal efficiency of trailing-edge film cooling where the cooling air is blown against the concave surface of the nozzle diaphragm blade. It is found that tapering of the concave surface of the blade to half its initial thickness over a 75-mm long area had no effect on the cooling efficiency, but resulted in a appreciable gain in cascade efficiency.
