A standards converter with silicon storage plate electrode, for recording ultrafast transients
Abstract
Properties and design development of a standards converter featuring a silicon storage plate and discrete diodes are described. The device is recommended for recording nonrecurring or only slowly recurring fast transients. Performance is much faster than alternative devices for recording fast transients, and resolution is adequate. The slow electrical readout enhances image quality on a large-format TV monitor, and the signal can be digitized for better data processing. Mechanical design details are described and illustrated.
