Analysis of a model for the interpretation of chromatic delay in light emitting diodes
Abstract
An existing model explaining the chromatic delay in LEDs driven by sinusoidal signals was extended to pulse signals. The model shows no actual delay between parts of the optical spectrum, but a deformation of the optical pulse which is dependent on the wave-length. The amount of deformation also depends on the ratio of the minority carriers life-time in the photoluminescent zones to the minority carriers life-time in the electroluminescent zones, increasing with larger ratios.
