Measuring techniques for compressible turbulent boundary layers
Abstract
A survey of probes for the measurement of mean flow quantities like total and static pressure, total temperature and mass flow in supersonic turbulent boundary layers is given. Their special applications as well as their short comings are pointed out. Possible probe corrections which should be applied under particular flow conditions are discussed. Hot wire and Laser Doppler anemometer are described briefly. The application of these measuring techniques for the determination of velocity, mass flow and total temperature fluctuations is shown and some results of measurements are reported.
