Description of alpha-beta tracking filter with minimal maximum transient error response
Abstract
An alpha-beta filter is described which has to be used in a phased-array radar system. The filter is designed in such a manner that the probability of threshold excursion of the tracking error is kept below a certain, small, value. For the maneuver errors no probabilistic model, but a deterministic maneuver model was chosen which has typical properties with respect to the maximal tracking errors which occur.
