High-speed electron-optical image converters for studying laser radiation with picosecond and femtosecond time resolution
Abstract
On the basis of experiments and theoretical estimates, ways of modernizing multistage image converters of the PIM-UMI are formulated so as to appreciably increase their time and space resolution in the linear scanning mode. The main models of ultra-high-speed image converters used for studying lasers and laser plasma are described. A method of recording sinusoidally modulated laser radiation for measuring the dynamic characteristics of image converters was developed further. Specific characteristics of the circuits of two-frequency neodymium lasers are discussed. Individual results of measurement of the time MTF of the converters studied are presented. Ways of further improving ultrahigh-speed image converters are outlined.
