Current limitation by an electric double layer in ion laser discharges
Abstract
A theory for current limitation in ion laser discharges was investigated. The basic mechanism considered is saturation of the positive ion flux at an electric double layer by the limited flux of neutral atoms. The result is compared with a recently published synthesis of a large number of experimental data which agree well with those predicted by the double layer model.
