High-speed image converters for studying laser radiation with picosecond and femtosecond time resolution
Abstract
On the basis of the experiments performed and theoretical estimates, the chief methods for modernizing multistage image converters (IC) of type PIM-UMI in the direction of an appreciable increase of their time and space resolution in the linear scanning mode were formulated. The principal models of high speed IC used for studying lasers and laser plasma are described. The method of recording sinusoidally modulated laser radiation for measuring the dynamic characteristics of IC were developed further. Specific features of the circuits of dual frequency neodymium lasers are discussed. Individual results of measurement of the temporal modulation transfer function of the converters studied are presented. Plans for further improvement of high-speed IC were outlined.
