The National Metric Speakers Bureau was established by the Metric Information Office of the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) in January 1976 in response to the rapidly growing interest in the metric system and metrication. The number of speakers at the end of 1976 was 273 with at least one in every state. A script and other materials was provided to each speaker. A survey of all of the speakers was conducted during November and December 1976 to determine how the speakers bureau is working, and how it can be made to work better. The findings of the survey were summarized. A survey of the sources of information on the metric system and metrication was also included.
