Supplies to auxiliary equipment in vehicles with a three-phase power system
Abstract
A three phase power system is examined as a souce of power for auxiliary equipment on electric locomotives. Generator and traction motor cooling, inverse rectifier and brake resistor cooling, train current, and control circuits are among the topics considered. It is concluded that the three phase system offers a cost effective and simple solution to the problem of power supplies for auxiliary equipment in diesel locomotives.
