Electromechanical stress analysis of transversely isotropic solenoids
Abstract
An analytical solution for the deflection, stress, and strain of axisymmetric, electromechanically loaded, and rotationally transversely isotropic solenoids is described. The results indicate that for magnets with a large radial build compared to inner radius, transverse isotropy has a dramatic effect upon the mechanical response to load; for magnets with a small radial build compared to inner radius, transverse isotropy has a negligible effect.
