Modern utilization of infrared technology. III. Civilian and military. Conference held at San Diego, Calif., USA, 25 - 26 August 1977.
Abstract
Papers on military applications of infrared technology are presented including a technique for infrared background suppression, the Balloon Altitude Mosaic Measurements Program, and a CCD signal processor for point target detection/location systems. Various types of infrared detectors are described noting optical crosstalk in infrared detector arrays, infrared solid state imaging arrays, and intrinsic semiconductor detectors. Consideration is given to infrared astronomy noting the Spectral Infrared Experiment, a high-precision infrared sky survey at 2.7 microns, the infrared radiation of the zodiacal light, and a pressure modulator radiometer. Scientific and civilian applications of infrared are described including a superposition technique to provide composite thermal/visual displays, the detection of heat loss through aerial infrared imagery, an unheated four-bar infrared test target, and the quantitative determination of surface temperatures using an infrared camera.
