Air Force research in optical processing
Abstract
The Air Force is actively pursuing scientific research and exploratory development into both optical image and optical signal processing. This paper considers Air Force research in optical image processing with attention given to optical modulators, holographic elements, optical correlators, noise reduction, image compression, and nonlinear processing, while optical signal processing is considered with attention given to optical computation, estimation and identification, radar signal processing, and spread spectrum signal acquisition.
