Abstract
The papers deal with recent developments in the field of electrooptics, concentrating on such subject areas as: spectroscopy instrumentation and applications; integrated optics and electrooptic communications; testing, measuring, and material processing; electrooptic storage, memories, and holography; thermal low-light-level imaging and military electrooptics; optoelectronic sensing, display, components, and systems; laser-induced chemical effects; interactive computer graphics; and progress in laser nuclear-fusion technology. Specific topics include expected changes in civilian and military electrooptics in the late 1970s and early 1980s, photoacoustic spectroscopy of nongaseous matter, an IR gas spectroscopy system based on pulsed lead chalcogenide diode lasers, high-radiance linear LEDs, components and design considerations for an analog video optical-fiber link, a review of speckle photography and interferometry, and quantitative strain measurement via holographic interferometry. An experimental laser-enhanced low-light-level television system is described, along with electrooptical systems and photosensitive materials for information storage, a magnetooptic bubble display, some results of laser isotope-separation research, and a laser microfluorometer for biological fluorescence-decay measurements.
