The effect of side reception in ferrite antennas
Abstract
Side reception in loop antennas is due to the formation of a parasitic winding in the plane perpendicular to the plane of the principal windings of the coil. The paper proposes a method for taking account of the side reception effect for the case of antennas with ferrite cores. The expressions which are obtained make it clear that one way to reduce this effect in ferrite antennas is to use cores with a greater relative length and a greater permeability of material.
